Get started with welcome series automation.

Updated over 5 months ago

The Welcome Series is an automated process designed to warmly greet and engage new customers, leaving a positive first impression. With popup-based automation, businesses can optimize sales, enhance user experience, and reduce cart abandonment rates. This article will guide you on how to set up and activate the Welcome Series easily.

💡 Tip

New contacts are those with no orders from your e-commerce store. Those contacts will receive the welcome message.

Before running the Welcome Series automation, follow these steps:

1. Install your preferred e-commerce app from the BusinessChat App Store.

2. Create a WhatsApp template for the Welcome Series usage.

Popup display

The automation trigger is a popup automatically installed on your website. Customize the popup by selecting:

  • Theme

Choose typography & colors, including background, text, and call-to-action colors.

  • Layout

Select preferred layouts for both mobile and web.

  • Popup Design

Fill out the components: Image (if applicable), Body (Title & description), Call to action (redirects to WhatsApp), and WhatsApp prefilled message.

  • Teaser

The teaser is a floating button with exciting content to trigger the popup widget. Customize its content, position, and display for mobile and desktop.

Target Audience

Define the target audience for the automation:

  • Who to show the popup to? (Preconfigured)

New visitors or those who haven't clicked the call to action button.

  • How many times to show at most? (Preconfigured)

The popup will trigger once a day for the same contact at most

  • When should the popup appear for visitors? (customized)

You have the flexibility to choose when the popup displays by selecting your preferred option from the following:

    1. Time on Site: The popup will trigger after a visitor spends a specific time on your site.

    2. Scroll Position: The popup will activate when a visitor scrolls to a certain point on the page.

    3. On Exit-Intent: If this option is enabled, the popup will appear whenever a user attempts to leave the page.

The popup will trigger for the first and second options when the specified time on site has passed and the designated scroll position is reached. If the exit-intent option is also enabled, the popup will trigger whenever the user tries to leave the page.

Automation Setup

Automation can take a maximum of three steps. The first step contains Welcome & Apology messages.

  • Welcome message: An immediate message to welcome new contacts with an optional promo code.

  • Apology message: Sent to contacts not eligible for the automation. Those contacts will not enter this automation.

💡 Tip

New contacts are those with no orders from your e-commerce store. Those contacts will receive the welcome message. Otherwise, they will get the apology message.

Take a look at your automation steps. Once you finish, set your automation to "Live" or "Save As Draft."

💡 Tip

If templates are pending approval, the automation will remain in "Pending" status. After approval, it will be set to "Live," and you'll receive an email notification. See statuses.
