Activating your WhatsApp number using the embedded signup flow
Setting up Cart Abandonment automation to recover lost sales
✅ Part 1: Activating a WhatsApp Number
Before you can send WhatsApp messages through BusinessChat Lite, you need to activate your number using Meta's Embedded Signup flow.
📝 Basic Requirements
Make sure you have the following:
A verified personal Facebook account
A verified (or verifiable) Facebook Business Manager account
A phone number that hasn’t been used before with WhatsApp (standard or API)
Access to receive a verification code (via SMS or call) on that number
🚀 Activation Steps
1️⃣ Log in to BusinessChat
Go to your BusinessChat Lite dashboard
Click “Link Number” to start the embedded signup
2️⃣ Log in to Facebook
Use your personal Facebook account to sign in
3️⃣ Link Your Business Account
Select an existing Facebook Business Manager or create a new one
4️⃣ Set Up WhatsApp Business Profile
Enter your business name
Choose a category (e.g. E-commerce, Restaurant, Customer Service)
5️⃣ Choose Your Phone Number
Enter the new number you want to link
Select your preferred verification method (SMS or voice call)
6️⃣ Enter the Verification Code
You’ll receive a code via your selected method
Enter it to complete verification
7️⃣ Complete Activation
Once verified, the number will be officially linked to WhatsApp API
You can now use it in all BusinessChat Lite automations
💳 Add a Payment Method
To ensure your number stays active with WhatsApp API:
Navigate to WhatsApp Accounts
Select the WABA (WhatsApp Business Account) associated with your number
Click Payment Settings
Add a valid payment method
⚠️ Important Notes
Once activated, the number cannot be used with the regular WhatsApp app
If your number is currently in use with WhatsApp, you must delete it from the app first before linking
🛒 Part 2: Creating & Enabling Cart Abandonment Automation
To start recovering abandoned carts, you first need to create WhatsApp message templates — one for each step of the flow.
✍️ Create WhatsApp Templates
Go to the WhatsApp Templates tab
Click “Create New Template”
Fill in the following fields:
Template Name (in English, no spaces or special characters)
Template Language
Body: Add the message content
Button Label: The cart link will be automatically included
Click Save
⚠️ Note: The status will be shown as Pending — Meta may take up to 24 hours to approve the template.
⚙️ Set Up Cart Abandonment Automation
Go to the Cart Abandonment tab
Toggle the switch to activate the automation
Select the template for the first message
Click Save
(Optional) To activate the second message:
Toggle the second step
Select another approved WhatsApp template
📌 Note:
The first cart abandonment message is sent 3–4 hours after the customer abandons their cart.
