Here’s what shipped in September

A smarter bot… no guesswork

Two big steps for the AI bot this month. It can now work from a simple Google Sheet — no developers needed — and it tells you exactly what to add or fix to make its answers more accurate. No more guessing.

  • 📊 Google Sheets, no code needed — add your business data to a Google Sheet (branches, doctors, products, appointment slots) and the bot answers from it. When a customer takes an action, like booking an appointment, the bot adds a new row to the sheet or creates a ticket for your team. Ask “Is Dr. Khaled available on Monday?” and it replies with his open slots; say “Book me at 10 AM” and the booking appears in your sheet — or as a ticket for your team.

  • 💡 Recommendations — based on what your customers are actually asking, we suggest new knowledge base articles and other improvements, so you know exactly what to add or fix.

  • 🧩 Missing capabilities — requests the bot couldn’t complete because it has no action for them are grouped and counted, so you can see which actions to add next.

  • ⚠️ Knowledge base conflicts — when two articles give different answers to the same question (say, “returns within 14 days” in one and “returns within 30 days” in another), we flag the conflict, show sample conversations where it happened, and recommend a fix.

  • 📈 Article usage — see how many times the bot used each article, so you know what’s valuable and what’s outdated or never used.

  • 🎯 Actions report — for businesses using Adaptive Agents (healthcare for now): see how often key actions like booking, cancelling, or rescheduling an appointment succeed, follow the conversion rate over time, and open any conversation where an action succeeded, was escalated, or was abandoned. For example, 50 successful bookings out of 150 requests is a 33% conversion rate.

🛒 Now available to every e-commerce store

Bot settings, bot persona, custom instructions, and custom escalation — previously in Beta — are now available to all e-commerce businesses.

A full CRM, built into BusinessChat

Store the contact data that matters to your business and use it across the platform. Personalize every conversation and campaign with your own data — no external CRM needed.

  • 🗂 Custom fields — define your own contact fields. A clinic might add “Date of Birth” and “Insurance Provider”; a store, “Clothing Size” and “VIP Tier”.

  • 👀 Right there in the Inbox — admins choose which fields appear in the Inbox, so agents see the most important customer info at a glance.

  • 🔍 Filters and groups — find contacts by any field, organize them into groups by any field, and add everyone in a filter to a group in one step.

  • ✍️ Personalized messages — use field values in saved replies and templates.

  • 🪪 Contact profile page — a new page to view and edit all of a contact’s data in one place.

  • 🔌 Available through the API — every one of these features works through the BusinessChat API too.

SLA reports: how fast your team responds and resolves

Three new reports show how fast your team responds to customers and resolves conversations. Spot delays, compare agent performance, and improve the customer experience with real data.

  • ⏱ First response time — how long an agent takes to act on a conversation after it’s assigned to them, either by replying to the customer or by reassigning it to a teammate.

  • 💬 Average response time — how long an agent takes, on average, to reply to each customer message.

  • ✅ Team resolution time — how long an agent takes to close a conversation after it’s assigned to them. Only conversations the AI bot marks as “Resolved” count.

🧮 How it adds up

A conversation is assigned to Sara at 10:00. She replies at 10:02 (first response time: 2 min), answers each follow-up within about 3 minutes (average response time: ~3 min), and closes it at 10:20 once the bot marks it Resolved (team resolution time: 20 min).

Telegram is live

As promised last month: connect a Telegram bot as a channel and handle Telegram chats right alongside WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Live Chat — all in the same Inbox.

  • ⚡️ Connect in under 3 minutes — create a bot with @BotFather, then paste its token in Settings → Channels → Telegram.

  • 🖼 Full Inbox support — text, images, videos, albums, voice notes, files, stickers, locations, and contacts all render natively.

  • ✏️ Edit, delete, and react — edit or delete messages you’ve sent, and react to messages in both directions.

  • 🤖 AI bot works out of the box — the same channel-agnostic bot handles your Telegram conversations.

  • 🕐 No 24-hour window — once a customer starts your bot, you can message them any time.

Connect ChatGPT and Claude to BusinessChat

BusinessChat now has an MCP server. Connect the AI tools your team already uses, like ChatGPT and Claude, and work with your BusinessChat data in plain language.

  • 🔎 Ask about your data — look up contacts, conversations, products, and your team straight from your AI assistant.

  • 🛠 Get work done — update work items, assign them, and move them through their statuses without leaving the chat.

  • 🔑 You stay in control — connect with an API key from Developer settings and grant only the scopes it needs. Sending WhatsApp messages is deliberately not available over MCP.

  • 📘 Docs — setup steps and the full list of tools live at docs.businesschat.io/mcp.html.
