Use BusinessChat platform to create and manage templates.
WhatsApp mandate that you use pre-approved message templates to initiate conversations with your customers. This tutorial will show you how to achieve this from within our platform.
Where I can find my WhatsApp templates
To find your WhatsApp templates, go to account settings under your profile picture, then select WhatsApp Templates.
On this page, you will find all your templates.
Create a new WhatsApp Template
Click on Create A Template
The Create Template form is divided into three sections, the management section, the content section, and the action section.
WhatsApp has many policies regarding each field in the template application. You will find that these policies are reflected as restrictions on the form input by our team to make it easy for you to submit the form.
The management section
1. Template name
The name is used to reference your template.
WhatsApp restrictions:
- Must be in English letters.
2. Language
Select your template language
3. How do you intend to use your template
You need to design the purpose of your template.

4. Category
We will auto-select the category based on your intended usage, but you can change it to any of the standard WhatsApp categories listed here.
The content section
1. The header
The header is optional.
You can include an image, a document, a video, or an open text.
When you write it in text, it is bolder than the body. When you use media, it shows up on the top of your message.
WhatsApp restrictions:
- In the open text, You can have one custom filed only.
- In the open text, You can't use bold or italic
- In the open text, You can't use emojis
- In the open text, You can write up to 60 characters
- You can't combine text and other media forms
2. The Body
The message body is a mandatory field. It is the main part of your message.
You can use text only in the body and have more than one custom field.
WhatsApp restrictions:
- The body is mandatory
- You can't use media
- You can have up to 1,024 characters
3. The Footer
The footer is optional.
You can only include text in the footer.
The footer looks smaller and in a lighter text under your message body.
WhatsApp restrictions:
- You can't have any custom filed.
- You can write up to 60 characters
- You can't use bold or italic
- You can't use media
The action section
You can use interactive buttons to emphasize your call to action in the action section.
There are two types of interactive buttons, quick reply buttons or call to action buttons.
Call to action buttons
Call to action buttons include links or phone numbers that help your customer reach you faster.
Call to action buttons are of two types: Website link or phone number.
The website link button can be static or dynamic. In the dynamic button, you can add up to one custom field linked to the end of your URL.
The label is what your customer will see as button text.
To switch the order of your buttons, click the move up icon.
WhatsApp restrictions:
- You can have a max of two call to action buttons
- You can't have more than one call to action button of each type. So, for example, you can't have two website link buttons.
- Buttons can't include emojis.
- The label is up to 20 characters long.
Quick reply buttons
These are ready-made quick reply texts that you can use upon replying to a template message.
You can have up to three quick reply buttons.
WhatsApp restrictions:
- You can have a max of three quick reply buttons
- Buttons can't include emojis
- The label is up to 20 characters long
Once your template is ready, click on Preview and Submit.
Submit your template
You need to provide examples to WhatsApp about your media and your custom fields on this page.
If all is good, click on the submit button.
Check my Template status
You can find your template status on the WhatsApp template page.
Once you submit your template, the template will be in yellow, which indicates an under-review status.
Normally WhatsApp team will review your template within 24 hours, if your template is approved, it will have a green color, and if it is rejected, it will have a red color.
